The state capital Stuttgart

Many people associate success stories with Stuttgart, like the one of Daimler, Porsche and Bosch. The Swabian metropolis is more than one of Europe’s strongest regions in economic terms. The city shows a high free-time value: many green places and vineyards in the center of the city, an attractive culture scene with about 80 festivals per year, big festivities like ‘Weindorf’ or ‘Cannstatter Wasen’, spas to relax and one of the largest pedestrian areas in Germany. In one of the 23 urban districts of Stuttgart it is hard to find an inexpensive flat. The most wanted objects are apartments at the slope with a view over the city. Because of Stuttgart’s location in a basin the city has two special means of transportation: A historic funicular railway and a modernised rack railway are part of the regular services. Pedestrians need to be quite fit: There are over 400 stairs – called ‘Stäffele’ – around the slopes of 30 kilometers length.
